Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion and Renovation Competition

Los Angeles Convention Center Expansion and Renovation Competition

A finalist in an international design competition, Lehrer Architects envisioned a $350 million expansion to enhance the Los Angeles Convention Center. The design incorporates hotels and multilevel ramps, balconied halls, integrated parking, recreation, and green spaces, fostering connectivity and pride in Downtown.  The ramps link  retail, advertising, art installations, and a marketplace to contribute to the vibrant atmosphere.  A green swath welcomes visitors, and urban connectivity is enhanced through passages, a bosque, and a pre-functional roof promenade. Emphasizing sustainability, the design includes ideal solar orientation, cross-ventilation, and stormwater runoff capture, transforming Lindsay Plaza into a dynamic and sustainable urban space.

“I’m very pleased that with these functional and attractive designs, Los Angeles is closer to a Convention Center that reflects our city’s position as the global capital of creativity, innovation, and possibility.”
